Hi, maybe this helps somebody. i have tried this, and after a successfull read of the blocks , with the import in command prompt, it starts to do something that looks like this 202198/1356789 and it grows with 10 units every 30 seconds. So it also takes forever to to this.. :( maybe it is my computer hardware s fault
sync takes for ever
Hi guys, i have just set up a monero wallet, latest version of the app from the site. windows 7 all good, the daemon starts, and connects to the network but I have a countdown which decreases very very slowly. "Blocks remaining 1288345" . that s 1 million. from yesterday to today it decreased 300.
please tell me if - is this normal? - can I make payments or deposits , even the number is not 0 there?
thanks a lot
Hi again, You are very kind to give me the solutions. I have downloaded the blockchain. Hope to be able to manage solving the problem like this. If not, I ll try with the trusted node. First I have to read a little, I am a newbie with those things. Thanks again!
I only recommend the wallets listed on the official download page: https://getmonero.org/downloads/
They do not list a mobile wallet.
If you don't want to download the blockchain, you can still use the GUI and point it to a trusted node: https://moneroworld.com/#nodes
Thanks a lot. Would you strongly disagree to use a mobile version of the wallet? I understood that is mush faster and easier.
The blockchain is about 37GB - Depending on your connection speed, it could take some time.
You cannot make payments while your wallet is syncing. I don't recommend receiving payments on the wallet until you are fully synced.
You can download the bootstrap blockchain here: https://downloads.getmonero.org/blockchain.raw
Good instructions on using the raw file here: https://www.monero.how/tutorial-how-to-speed-up-initial-blockchain-sync
