help me get simplewallet started

I just installed monero 10.0 on a laptop running linux. I need to run simplewallet connected to a remote node. Maybe later I can sync the whole blockchain, but right now I just need to get running so I can use the wallet. Treat me like a newb. Like I don't know what a "daemon" is, because I don't. The scenario: I open the terminal. I navigate to the directory where monero is and type "simplewallet.exe"

bash: simplewallet.exe: command not found

C'mon folks, help me out here.

I only use windows but please note that the naming is different with 0.10 simplewallet is now monero-wallet-cli and bitmonerod is now monerod

That isn't going to work on Linux. There is a guide here which you can follow.
