Try running Monero under a different OS. The problem is most likely your spare operating system.
Monero GUI Wallet will not load / run
Trying to run the Windows GUI wallet on Windows 10 but it wimply will not start. If I run the file the Windows "busy" icon spins for a few seconds, then nothing.
Monero-wallet-gui.exe is listed in Task Manager under Background applications. It is using little or no CPU (It changes from about 0.2% to 0). If I try again a new instance of the exe is spawned and listed in the Task Manager.
I have tried running monerod.exe 1st, then the wallet GUI. Same result.
I have confirmed that: -I'm using the newest version - 11.1.0 -the wallet app and monerod are listed in exceptions for the anti-virus and firewall software. I have a small home network and my mining machine is running Windows10 as well. I CAN run the Wallet GUI file from the networked computer, so it is not a corrupt exe. I don't want to run it on the miner though, since I am replacing it next week - want to keep the wallet on my laptop.
I've also tried removing the files in C:\ProgramData\bitmonero to force a re-synch but no difference in outcome other than I seem to be missing my wallet now.
I've checked the monero-wallet-gui.log and found the same error message repeated for every time I tried running it: 2017-12-07 21:35:44.875 13208 INFO logging contrib/epee/src/mlog.cpp:148 New log categories: *:WARNING,net:FATAL,net.p2p:FATAL,net.cn:FATAL,global:INFO,verify:FATAL,stacktrace:INFO,logging:INFO,msgwriter:INFO
Any help is appreciated. I have my mnemonic so I can restore my wallet. I just want to have this working.
I can see if I have a machine I can use. Alternatively, is there something I can delete/unlink to be able to reinstall on my primary machine? I don't have to have a link to my mining machine. And if I set it up later I just won't run the wallet from a remote location
