Unknown Transaction

Hi everyone,

I hope this is the right place for this question...

I have an unknown transaction in MyMonero Wallet.

In June I bought 5 Monero. They showed up in my wallet. No problems there.

I log in again in August and there's a transaction I don't recognise. It's the only transaction other than the deposit.

Transaction ID: 489e3061e7e248bcef29dd005b61c066d04aa75245cce7e8726a9a12648295c5

It took 4.996 Monero Mixin is 3 Payment ID says N/A

I've tried to look at block explorers but to be honest I can't make head or tail of what its showing me.

Can anyone help on what this transaction might be or where its gone? Or is it lost?

I'ver emailed support some days ago now but so far haven't had any response.

Looks like someone got your seed and stole your monero. Some kind of malware/spyware on your computer, probably.

I run Avira, Malwarebytes, Spybot and have Windows Firewall activated. Also a hard wired connection behind a router and no network. I run scans frequently. All information backups have only ever been written down, ie. not kept on the computer. I'm not saying your reply isn't possible.

I'm more interested in whether there is any useful information obtainable from the Transaction ID.

Is it impossible to get any information on a likely receiving address?

The possibility that this got sent to an exchange has arisen. I notice Livecoin have a message saying Monero cannot be searched for if no Payment ID is present. Surely an address should be enough to ensure the Monero arrives at its destination?

I'm really struggling to get my head around some of this. Have I got this right?

  1. The sender cannot identify the receiver's address???? Can't be true surely????

  2. A Payment ID is needed for exchanges because they use a 'collective' receiving address and the Payment ID is necessary for account crediting??? This is insane!!!! Can't be true surely? If this is true this feature should be shouted from the rooftops as other wallets use completely unecessary Payment ID's and Data fields and I suspect most people will be used to that. I mean this is a truly terrible idea. If I send to an address I expect it to reach an address and that address if on my account to be my address. How much Monero is being lost like this?

I've got View and Spend keys and of course my seed phrase and address.

MoneroExplorer.com reveals the following. I can't work out what any of it means. I've spent days on this and can only think the place for help with MyMonero is somehow evading me. I have noticed a number of people with very similar issues to this one never seem to get answered across multiple locations.

I have my spend key... what do I do with and where? Is it relevant? I don't know.
